Gaining AccessWelcome to the Southwest Idaho Woodturners Association website. We are just a bunch of nice folks who like to turn wood. We are a chapter of the American Association of Woodturners . Since our site has in the past been attacked by less than desirable people with dubious intentions, we have had to take measures to protect it.

Some really good wood for saleTurning blank and lumber sale. Kyle Christian came to our meeting in January and told us he has a lot of wood for sale. Steve Young checked it out today. He has 2 rolling carts of board lumber and about 200 turning blanks. Turning wood includes myrtle, maple and redwood. The lumber includes wenge, paduak, and brazillian cherry. He also has an older generation Powermatic lathe for sale. Looks to be in good shape. He has multiple faceplates, toolrests and a duplicator. It is 1.5 Hp.
2008 Utah Symposium dates, location changeKip Christensen has informed the AAW that the Utah Symposium will no longer be held at Brighan Young University. In 2008 the Utah Symposium will be held at the Utah Valley State College, which is close to BYU, on May 22 - 24, 2008. This change in dates is important to the entire woodturning community because the dates no longer conflict with the AAW Richmond Symposium on June 20 - 22 2008. Attendees and demonstrators are now free to attend both Symposia instead of having to choose between one and the other. This information came to us from Angelo Iafrate, AAW President.
December Christmas PartyThe joint Woodturners / Woodworkers Club Christmas Party will be held December 5, 2007 at 6:30pm. As usual, there will be a gift exchange. The clubs will provide the meat, drinks, etc. Based on your last name: The location is the Locust Grove Grange Hall
Announcing the new website! Why a new website? Well, the old one was a little difficult to maintain. I knew that if I was going to ever be able to step down as the administrator, I would have to find a better way. My hope is that this site will be more friendly and give us more abilities - like sharing photos, posting stories, how-to articles and the like. This version of the website will allow more than just me to post content. Look for articles in the future to explain how you can add your information to the website. Please leave feedback in the forumn as to what you think of the changes. Thanks,
